Ingredients For grand-pÈres (maple syrup dumplings)
- DOUGH

2 cunbleached all-purpose flour

2 Tbspgranulated sugar

4 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspkosher salt

3 Tbspunsalted butter

1 cmilk
-
1/2 tsppure vanilla extract
- MAPLE SYRUP
-
1/2 c(1 stick) butter
-
2 1/2 cwater
-
2 cbrown sugar
-
1/2 cgood quality maple syrup
-
1/2 tsppure vanilla extract
How To Make grand-pÈres (maple syrup dumplings)

1DOUGH: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

2Add butter to dry ingredients and work until the mixture resembles coarse sand using fingers, pastry cutter or a couple of knives.

3Add milk a little at a time until the dough comes together. Add vanilla extract, stir and set aside.

4MAPLE SAUCE: In a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, add butter, water, brown sugar, maple syrup and vanilla extract. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

5By the tablespoon, drop the dough balls one by one into the simmering sauce. Cover, reduce heat to medium and cook for 14 minutes. Halfway, spoon the sauce over the dumplings.

6Scoop up a hot dumpling into a serving bowl, spoon sauce over and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
