This recipe is from the book I got the Dinner rolls from. It is not very healthy as it calls for lard. But it is the best pie crust I've ever made.

Ingredients For country pie crust

  • 5 c
    flour
  • 1/2 stick
    butter, cold
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 2 c
    generous cups lard
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 lg
    egg

How To Make country pie crust

  • 1
    cut together flour,salt,baking soda,lard and butter. Should look like small peas.

    put the egg in a cup beat with 1 tbsp vinegar, add enough ice water to make 3/4 cup beat well. mix with flour mixture
  • 3
    Turn out on floured surface, cover with bowl, let rest 10 minutes. Roll out. makes 5-10" or 6-9" crusts

    For baking crust without filling. roll out dough line 1 pan set another pan inside and turn upside down. Bake at 425* for 20 minutes.
