Tired of the usual Christmas cookies? Try this old family recipe. I love it so much that my mom made it for my birthday instead of a cake. To further prove my love for it, I ate most of it before I remembered to take a picture for this post! I don’t feel bad about that at all!

1/4 lbbutter

1 Tbspcold water

How To Make christiana kringle

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all pastry ingredients until dough forms.

2Split the dough in half and form 2 long strips, approximately 3 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick on cookie sheets lined with foil or parchment paper.

3For filling: Add water and butter to a sauce pan. Heat on medium until butter is melted and the mixture begins to simmer. Do not boil the mixture.

4Remove from heat and blend the flour into the butter mixture until smooth.

5Add 3 eggs one at a time to the filling mixture. Beat the mixture after each egg is added until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.

6Spread the filling mixture over the pastries. Be careful to not let it spill over the sides.

7Bake 45 to 50 minutes until pastry is light golden brown.

8Cool the pastries until warm. Mix ingredients for frosting and spread on pastries. Finish with some colored sprinkles on top to give it a Christmas look!
