This is an oldie from my Mother-In-Law's recipe box. She used to make this quite often many years ago. I love anything with apple, so I'm so happy she shared this with me!

Ingredients For apple spice squares

2 cchopped apples (I like Mcintosh)

1 csugar
-
1/2 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspnutmeg

1egg, beaten

1/2 cbutter, melted
-
1 1/4 csifted flour
-
3/4 tspbaking powder
-
1/4 cbrown sugar
-
1/2 cnuts, chopped (I like walnuts)
How To Make apple spice squares

1Peel, core, and chop apples. Add sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add egg and mix well.

2Add butter, flour, and baking powder. Mix until absorbed.

3Pour into an 8 x 8 pan. Mix brown sugar and nuts together, then sprinkle on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.

4Cool and cut into squares.
