Ingredients For apple canes

1 cmilk scalded and cooled to luke warm

4 call purpose flour

1/4 csugar

1 tspsalt

1 1/3 cbutter

1/4 cwarm water

1 pkgdry yeast

2 lgeggs beaten

3/4 cfinely chopped apples

3/4 cchopped pecans
-
1/3 csugar
-
1/4 crich milk
-
1 cbrown sugar firmly packed

2 cpowdered sugar

1 1/2 tspvanilla
How To Make apple canes

1Pastry Scald 1 cup of milk and cool to luke warm In large bowl combine 4 cups of flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp salt. cut in 1 cup butter or margerine until mixture is like coarse meal disolve 1 package of dry yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water and add to flour mixture stir in 2 beaten eggs to the mixture combine lightly and cover dough tightly and refrigerate for 2 hours.

2Filling combine 3/4 cup finely chopped apples, 3/4 cup chopped pecans, 1/3 cup sugar and 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon

3after dough is chilled divide dough in half. on floured board roll half of dough into a rectangle shape. roll the dough till its about 1/4 inch thick into the rectangular shape. spread half the filling on the dough and fold over twice. cut from the fold down into 1/2 in stripes. then take it and twist 2 times and place on greased baking pan. repeat with the 2nd half of dough and filling. bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes.

4Brown Sugar Icing 1/3 c. butter 1/4 c. rich milk 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed 2 c. powdered sugar 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla Combine in heavy 2 quart saucepan, butter, milk and brown sugar. Stir constantly over low heat. Bring to a boil and let boil for 2 minutes

5Let the icing only cool a little bit then drizzle it over the apple canes.
