Bread pudding is my favorite dessert and since I'm from Pennsylvania, I value Amish cooking.

Ingredients For amish bread pudding

2 cwhole milk or thin cream

1/4 cbutter
-
2/3 to 1 csugar (white or brown, i use white)

3eggs
-
2 tspcinnamon

1/4 tspnutmeg
-
1 tspvanilla

3 cbread, torn into small pieces

1/2 craisins, optional
How To Make amish bread pudding

1In a medium saucepan, heat milk until film forms over top. Add butter and stir until butter melts. Cool to lukewarm.

2Beat together sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Continue beating and gradually add milk mixture.

3Place torn bread in a buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with raisins, if using. Pour milk mixture on top of bread. Bake at 350* for 50 minutes to one hour. Serve warm either plain or with whipped cream or caramel sauce.
