caramel apple sundae / sauce

Pioneer woman's recipe. I added a little salt and divided recipe in half for 2 big servings or 4 small servings. Quick and easy. Hubby loves this little dessert topping. Enjoy!

Ingredients For caramel apple sundae / sauce

2granny smith apples, peeled and cored. slice thin or dice into small chunks

1/2 cpacked brown sugar

1/2 stickbutter, plus

1 Tbspbutter
-
1/4 cheavy cream
-
1/2 tspcinnamon
-
dashsalt
-
cookie crumbles for topping

How To Make caramel apple sundae / sauce

1In skillet, saute' apples over medium high heat, using 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook until apples are tender, but still firm.

2Remove apples from pan and set aside.

3Over medium heat, add 1/2 stick of butter and heavy cream. Stir until sugar is dissolved.

4Add heavy cream and dash of salt. Stir and let sauce thicken a bit (about 1-2 minutes).

5Turn heat to low. Add apple pieces back in to mixture. Add cinnamon. Stir and let thicken a little more (about 1-2 minutes again).

6Place ice cream in serving bowls and spoon apple mixture on top. Add vanilla cookie crumbles or crumbled lady finger cookies, or other fancy cookies on side.
