My kids loves strawberries so much. I make some for them. They were so delicious and sweet and smooth.

Ingredients For strawberry shortcake

  • 2/3 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    shortening
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 3 c
    fresh strawberries, cleaned, hulled and sliced
  • cool whip

How To Make strawberry shortcake

    In a bowl, cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture. Spread in a greased 9-in. square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Slice strawberries and put sugar in strawberries in a medium bowl and toss well. Set aside. Cut into nine servings. Split each serving horizontally and fill with whipped cream and strawberries. Replace top of cake; garnish with more berries and a dollop of whipped cream. Serve immediately.
