This is a recipe my daughter Shara came up with when she was craving something w/ cherries and chocolate. These are very yummy, especially with a cup of coffee!

Ingredients For shara's dark chocolate-cherry pastry squares

  • 1 can
    pillsbury refrigerated crusty french loaf
  • 4 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp
    grated orange peel
  • 1 c
    frozen pitted dark, sweet cherries, thawed
  • 1/2 c
    dark chocolate chips
  • 1/3 c
    sweet orange marmalade

How To Make shara's dark chocolate-cherry pastry squares

    Heat oven to 350. Spray a 15" x 10" pan w/ cooking spray.

    Unroll dough and press into pan to cover. in small microwaveable bowl, melt 2 tbsp butter. Stir in orange peel. W/ a pastry brush, brush mix over pastry.

    Press 1/2 cup cherries into 1/2 of the dough. Sprinkle w/ chocolate chips. Fold the side of dough w/ no fruit over the cherries and chocolate. Press edges to seal. Spoon remaining cherries over the top of dough and lightly press them into dough. In microwaveable bowl, microwave the remaining butter, stir in marmalade and microwave 10 seconds or until melted. Brush over the top. Bake for about 20 mins or until light golden brown.
