Ingredients For maple, apple & date fruit crisp

  • 1 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    apple pie spice
  • 6 c
    sliced, peeled cooking apples, about 6 medium
  • 1/2 c
    snipped pitted whole dates
  • 1/4 c
    maple syrup
  • 3/4 c
    whole grain cereal flakes with multigrain clusters and crunchy pecans
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • vanilla low-fat yogurt (optional)

How To Make maple, apple & date fruit crisp

    In a large bowl stir together flour and apple pie spice. Add apples and dates; toss gently to coat. Drizzle with maple syrup; toss gently to coat. Transfer to an ungreased 2-qt. square baking dish.

    In a small bowl toss together cereal and melted butter. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake, uncovered, in a preheated 375-degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until apples are tender. To prevent overbrowning, cover top loosely with foil for the last 10 to 15 minutes of baking, if necessary. Serve warm. Serve with yogurt if desired.
