From my mother's recipe file. A perfect autumn dessert to have after the football game, or even as an alternative to the Thanksgiving pumpkin pie.

Ingredients For harvest torte

4 ctart unpared apples, diced

1 csugar

1/2 call purpose flour

2 tspbaking powder

1egg

1 Tbspbutter, melted

1 tspvanilla

1/2 ccoarsely chopped walnuts

1/2 cpitted dates, cut up
How To Make harvest torte

1In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Stir until thoroughly mixed; do NOT beat.

2Turn into greased 8x8x2" pan. Bake in 400-degree oven for 40 minutes, or until apples are tender (test with fork).

3Cool slightly. Cut into squares. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream, cream, or vanilla ice cream.
