How To Make fresh blackberry bars
-
1Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Grease an 9 x 9 baking pan, set aside.
-
2Combine the flour, sugar, and salt. ( I used my food processor for this step ). Cut the butter into 1/2-inch cubes, and add to the flour mixture. Using a fork for pastry cutter or food processor, cut the butter in until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside 3/4 cup of crumbs for topping.
-
3Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of the pan, and bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes.
-
4Beat the eggs in a large bowl, then add the white and brown sugar, sour cream, flour, salt, orange zest and vanilla extract. Gently fold in the berries and pour the mixture over the cooled crust.
-
5Sprinkle the remaining crumbs evenly over the fruit filling. Bake for 35 - 45 minutes.
-
6Cool well before cutting. I serve these alone or with a scoop of ice cream, after warming the bars in the microwave. Enjoy!
