Ingredients For cranberry date bars

3 ccranberries, fresh

1 pkg(8 oz) pkg dates, chopped

1 tspvanilla extract

2 cflour (all purpose)

2 coatmeal
-
1 1/2 cbrown sugar
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspbaking soda
-
1 cbutter, melted
- ORANGE GLAZE
-
2 cpowdered sugar
-
1/2 tspvanilla extract
-
3 Tbsporange juice
How To Make cranberry date bars

1In a medium saucepan combine cranberries and dates. Cook, covered, over low heat for 10-15 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Set aside.

2In a large mixing bowl stir together flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in margarine or butter until well blended. Pat half of oatmeal mixture on the bottom of a 9x13x2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.

3Carefully spread filling over baked oatmeal mixture. Sprinkle remaining oatmeal mixture on top. Pat gently. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes.

4Cool on wire rack. In a mixing bowl, stir together the powdered sugar, vanilla, and orange juice to a drizzling consistency. Drizzle with the Orange Glaze: cut into bars. Makes 32 bars.
