Pineapples in the Azores are famous for having unbelievable flavor and sweetness. This simple but delicious combination of ingredients give the pineapples a nice but subtle added flavor and truly enhances the wonderful texture and taste of the pineapple.     whole pineapple, sliced
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    rum
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • cinnamon powder, to taste

How To Make caramelized pineapple (ananas caramelizado)

    Melt the butter in saucepan at low heat.

    Add the sliced pineapple and sugar.

    Add the rum and let it flambe. Stir the contents together well.

    Once the pineapple reaches a golden color of caramelization, it is done.

    Place the pineapple into a serving dish and cover with cinnamon powder to taste. Serve while hot.
