This is one of those depression recipes -that has been carried over from year to year and new fruits added along the way. It really started out with apple slices ,apple juice and seeded grapes.

Ingredients For bread and fruit casserole

  • 1 c
    white sugar (granulated sugar)
  • 1/2 c
    oleo, (margarine or butter)
  • 4 lg
    eggs
  • 5 slice
    white bread, cubed (homemade) use a thick bread -country style
  • 11 oz
    can mandarin oranges,drained
  • 8 oz
    can crushed pineapple and juice
  • dream whip (cool whip)

How To Make bread and fruit casserole

  • 1
    Cream, oleo and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well. Stir in oranges and pineapple with juice. Fold in bread cubes. Pour into greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake at 350^ for 50 to 60 minutes.. Serve warm with Dream Whip.
