One of my personal favorites. This is my mother's recipe, and it is best served with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients For betty's apple crisp

1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1/2 call purpose flour
-
1/2 tspnutmeg
-
1/2 tspcinnamon
-
1/4 tspsalt

1/4 cbutter, room temperature

5 c(5-6) granny smith apples
How To Make betty's apple crisp

1Mix sugar, flour, spices and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.

2Peal, core and slice apples.

3Spread apples over the bottom of buttered 8 or 9 inch square baking pan.

4Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples. Pat lightly with fingers.

5Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender.
