Ingredients For apple pie '63

28caramels, unwrapped

1/2 chalf and half
- CRUST:

2 1/2 cunbleached white flour
-
1/4 csugar
-
1 1/2 tspsalt
-
1/2 cbutter
-
1/4 coil
-
1/4 cwater
-
1egg, beaten
- APPLE FILLING:
-
6 csliced, peeled apples (about 6)

1 csugar
-
1/3 cflour
-
1-2 tspgrated lemon peel
-
2 Tbsplemon juice
- TOPPING:
-
8 ozpackage cream cheese, softened
-
1/3 csugar
-
1egg
-
1/3 cchopped nuts
How To Make apple pie '63

1Heat oven to 375*

2Heat all caramel sauce ingredients till caramels are melted. Keep warm.

3In large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt. Cut in butter till coarse crumbs. Add oil, water and egg; mix well. Press into 15x10x1 baking pan.

4Combine all apple ingredients, toss lightly. Spoon into crust-lined pan. Drizzle warm caramel sauce over apples.

5Combine all topping ingredients into bowl; except nuts. Beat till smooth. Spoon over apples, spreading a little. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 375* for 35-45 minutes or till light golden brown.
