The original recipe calls for a deep baking dish, which I do not use. The topping on this is much too good to limit it to a smaller area, so I have changed the pan size. I prefer a thinner layer of apple and more crisp. Also, when I make this I double the recipe for the topping. But this will also double your calories.

Ingredients For apple crisp

  • 4 c
    sliced tart apples, peeled
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt

How To Make apple crisp

  • 1
    Lightly spray 9x13" glass baking pan with oil. Spread apples in pan and pour water over the apples.

    Mix with a fork the dry ingredients and the softened butter. Spread mixture evenly over the apples.

    Bake at 350* for 30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is brown. Serve warm or cooled with whipped topping or real cream.
