apple crisp

This was given to me by a good friend and I've made it quite often. Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped topping for a real treat. It is easy to 1/2 the recipe if you need to and it is a quick and easy dessert to fix.

Ingredients For apple crisp

  • 2 can
    apple pie filling
  • 1 box
    yellow cake mix (dry)
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • chopped english walnuts or pecans
  • cinnamon, cinnamon/sugar mixture or apple pie spice
  • lemon juice

How To Make apple crisp

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a glass or desired 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray. Put apple pie filling in bottom of pan. Sprinkle a few drops of lemon juice over apple filling. Sprinkle desired spice over apple filling. In a bowl, add melted butter to cake mix and mix with a fork to make a crumbly mixture. Sprinkle cake/butter mixture over apple mixture to cover well. Add choice of nuts on top. Bake until browned on top. (Sorry, I don't have a time.) ***This recipe is very easy to half if you don't want to make a 9 x 13 pan. Use 1/2 box of cake mix or one of those single layer mixes, 1/2 stick butter, and 1 can apple pie filling. I use an 8 or 9 inch square pan, then.
