This is my Mother's recipe. I have always loved it because I don't really like oatmeal in my crisp recipes. It's great this time of year to use the apples that are so plentiful and make the house smell wonderful! Enjoy!

Ingredients For apple crisp

  • 6-8
    apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 c
    white sugar
  • 1/2 c
    water, cold
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder

How To Make apple crisp

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8x8 pan with cooking spray.

    Put the apple slices, white sugar, water and cinnamon in a saucepan and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes or until apples soften.

    Cream together the butter, brown sugar, flour and baking powder until it forms medium size clumps of dough.

    After apples are slightly softened and your topping mixed together, put the apples in the bottom of the greased pan and cover with the topping. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and you can see the apples bubble from below.
