These apple burritos are an easy-to-make fall dessert. They're a cross between a sopapilla and a mini apple pie. The combination of buttery tortillas mixed with tart and sweet apples is an explosion of flavors in your mouth.

Ingredients For apple burritos

  • 6 lg
    apples, peeled, chopped (or use canned apple pie filling, heated)
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    corn starch
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    allspice, optional
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 8
    flour tortillas

How To Make apple burritos

  • Apples simmering in a saucepan.

    Mix apples and sugar in a saucepan. Add water to cover. Simmer until tender.
  • Corn starch, water, and spices combined in a bowl.

    Blend corn starch, 2 Tbsp water, and spices in a small bowl.
  • Corn starch mixture poured into the apples.

    Stir into apples. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. If using apple pie filling, just heat in pot on top of stove until warm.
  • Softening tortilla in butter.

    Soften tortillas 1 at a time in butter in skillet for several seconds on each side.
  • Apple filling spooned onto center of tortilla.

    Spoon 1/4 cup apples on each.
  • Tortilla wrapped.

    Roll to enclose filling.
  • Tortilla placed in a baking dish.

    Place seam side down on ovenproof serving plate or baking pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  • Apple Burritos broiled until lightly browned.

    Broil until light brown. Serve with sour cream, yogurt, or a scoop of ice cream when serving for dessert.
