My friend's husband gave me this recipe. It's a twisted to the traditional sweet potato pie but it's delicious.

Ingredients For cecil's sweet potato pie

  • 2 1/2 lb
    sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 2 tsp
    grated lemon peel
  • 1 Tbsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 2 can
    sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 5 lg
    eggs
  • 2 lg
    unbaked pie crust (deep dish)

How To Make cecil's sweet potato pie

    Boil sweet potatoes (skin on) in a large pot until tender. Drain and peel off the skin.

    Heat oven to 350

    . Beat sweet potatoes and butter in large bowl until smooth

    Add sweetened condensed milk, lemon peel, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and eggs; mix well. Pour into crusts.

    • BAKE 40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool. Garnish as desired (I usually sprinkle nutmeg, sugar and a little lemon juice on the top to give it extra flavor and a lil crunch)
