Ingredients For candied yam & pumpkin pie - delicious!

1 - 15 ozcandied yams - drained & pureed
-
1 - 15 ozcan - pumpkin - not pie mix
-
3/4 csugar
-
3/4 tspcinnamon
-
2 tspfresh grated ginger
-
1/4 tspnutmeg - optional
-
1 tspsalt
-
1/4 cmaple syrup
-
1 ceach - milk & heavy cream
-
1 tspvanilla
-
3eggs + 2 yolks
-
1prebaked warm pie crust
How To Make candied yam & pumpkin pie - delicious!

1In a food processor or blender - add the yams and puree.
In a large sauce pan or dutch oven, add the pumpkin, ginger, pureed yams, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Cook for 20 minutes. Stirring constantly. -
2Remove from burner and cool to luke - warm.
In a bowl whisk eggs, cream and vanilla. -
3Whisk in the egg mixture to the pumpkin mixture, until well blended.

4Preheat oven to 400 degree F.
Now, pour the yam - pumpkin filling into the prepared warm pre - baked pie crust and baked for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temp to 300 and bake until pie is set around the edges and center is just a little jiggly... about 30 - 35 minutes or longer depending on oven.
If crust begins to get too dark, cover the crust with foil. -
5Cool for at least 4 hours and serve alone or with a big dollop of whipped cream.
