This is my great Grand Mother's recipe. She always made these as 8" long strips.

Ingredients For perishky

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    lard
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    cream
  • 1
    egg

How To Make perishky

  • 1
    Sift dry ingredients, rub in lard, add slightly beaten egg, milk and cream.
  • 2
    Mix together to make a soft dough, you may need to add a little bit more flour.
  • 3
    Roll out, cut into squares (or long strips) and fill with apples or other fruits. Top with 1tsp sugar, or more, depending on taste and a bit of flour.
  • 4
    Fold over and seal. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes.
