A warm and simply delicious dessert that will make your house smell wonderful! This crisp is different (and better, in my opinion!) because there are no oats in the topping. The recipe also works great with pears, peaches, nectarines etc...

Ingredients For cinnamon apple crisp

8-10 lgtart apples, peeled, cored & sliced (1/2 inch)

2 tsplemon juice, fresh or bottled

1 cdark brown sugar, equally divided

1 tspground cinnamon, equally divided

1 call purpose flour

1 cgranulated white sugar

1/2 tspsalt
-
1 tspbaking powder
-
1 lgegg, beaten
-
1/2 cbutter, melted
How To Make cinnamon apple crisp

1Lightly butter a 9"x13" glass or stoneware casserole and set aside.

2In an extra large bowl, mix together 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and the lemon juice.

3Add apple slices and gently toss to combine.

4Place oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

5In a medium bowl, combine flour, white sugar, salt and baking powder.

6Add egg to flour mixture and combine with a fork or pastry blender until it resembles very coarse cornmeal with lumps the size of large peas. (This takes some patience.)

7Pour apples into prepared dish and sprinkle evenly with flour mixture.

8In a small bowl, mix together remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.

9Sprinkle evenly over the top of the flour mixture.

10Drizzle evenly with melted butter.

11Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

12Remove from oven and cool for 15 minutes before serving.

13Cover (no aluminum foil!) and refrigerate leftovers.
