Make sure the plums are ripe enough - it makes all the difference! To ripen plums, place them in a paper bag (NOT plastic). Do not refrigerate. They should ripen in a day or two.

Plums are a juicy and sweet summertime treat and their flavor shines bright in this plum tart. The base of this tart is a walnut shortbread crust. Slices of sweet and tart plums are arranged on top of the crust. The buttery crust mixture is also used as a crumble sprinkled on top. Easy to make, this is a delicious and impressive summer dessert that can be made when plums are in season.

  • 2/3 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 stick
    cold butter, chopped into cubes
  • 1 lg
    egg yolk
  • 6 - 8
    plums, any kind or mixed

  • Spray a baking dish with non-stick spray.

    Assemble ingredients. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a pie plate or tart pan with cooking spray (or use a false-bottom tart pan).
  • Put flour in a mixing bowl. Add nuts and brown sugar, and mix to combine.
