My Mother made these at Christmas for as far back as I can remember. We always ate them first......probably not real healthy with all that butter, but OHHHHH are they good!

Ingredients For russian tea cakes

  • 1 c
    soft butter
  • 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 c
    chopped nuts

How To Make russian tea cakes

  • 1
    Blend together butter, vanilla and powdered sugar.

    Sift together flour and salt and mix with first mixture.

    Stir in walnuts
  • 4
    Chill dough.

    Roll into 1 inch balls. Place 2&1/2 inches apart on ungreased sheet. Bake until set but not brown. While sill warm, roll in powdered sugar. When cool roll in powdered sugar again.
