Ingredients For persimmon cookies

  • 1 c
    persimmon pulp (aprox. 2 persimmons)
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    walnuts, chopped

How To Make persimmon cookies

    Preheat oven to 350º
  • 2
    Press persimmon pulp through a sieve and measure. Dissolve baking soda to pulp.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, sugar, and egg; mix well.

    Add remaining ingredients and pulp to the creamed mixture; mix well.

    Drop cookie dough by teaspoon onto cookie sheet.

    Bake for 10-12 minutes.
