How To Make new england raisin spice cookies

1Beat brown sugar, shortening, and butter in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add molasses and egg; beat until blended. Combine four, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and allspice in medium bowl. Stir in raisins. Gradually add shortening mixture, stirring just until blended. Cover; refrigerate at least 2 hours.

2Preheat oven to 350. Shape dough by heaping tablespoonfuls into balls. Roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on cookie sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
