I got this recipe from my sister and I have been making these for over 30 years. They are a soft yummy cookie. If you stuck a bowl of fruit cocktail in front of me I wouldn't eat it but I love these cookies.

Ingredients For fruit coctail gems

  • 1 lb
    can fruit coctail
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1
    egg
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves

How To Make fruit coctail gems

  • 1
    Drain the fruit cocktail and save the syrup. Cream together butter, sugars, egg and vanilla until fluffy.

    Add 1/2 cup of syrup with the dry ingredients. Fold in fruit cocktail and drop by teaspoons full on cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Enjoy!
