I created this after growing weary of fig preserves every year. Very tasty but also healthy!

Ingredients For fig crispies

  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 c
    butter (do not substitute)
  • 1
    egg
  • 2 c
    wheat flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 c
    chopped fresh figs
  • 1/2 c
    chopped pecans (walnuts would also be good or optional)

How To Make fig crispies

  • 1
    Cream: brown sugar & butter, in medium bowl add egg
  • 2
    Sift together: wheat flour, soda, baking powder, sea salt and cloves. Add to cream mixture
  • 3
    Fold in figs & nuts if using. If mixture is dry, do not worry about this. Cool in fridge for apprx 20 mins. This is when I clean up & get my cooling racks ready.

    Form into small balls (not quite an inch, they will rise). Roll in confectioners sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet place 2 inches apart. Bake at 350 for 20 mins. Cook completely.
