1 cbutter, room temperature

1 csugar

1egg

2 tspvanilla extract

2 2/3 - 3 call-purpose flour

To make these even easier to make, roll the dough out between two pieces of parchment paper before cutting. Cut the shapes out on the parchment paper. Then remove the dough around the cutouts. You can bake the cookies directly on parchment paper if you'd prefer.

1Cream the butter and sugar.

2Blend in the egg and vanilla.

3Add the flour and mix well.

4Cover in plastic wrap and chill for at least an hour.

5Roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness.

6Cut out shapes with your favorite cookie cutters. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

7Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

8Bake until light brown, about 8 minutes.

9Ice when cooled with your favorite vanilla cookie glaze or icing.
