chocolate cherry thumbprint cookies
The secret to these great cookies is the oatmeal and the melted chocolate chips. Being my husband's favorite cookies from childhood, I have perfected the recipe since my mother-in-law gave it to me years ago. A few tips on melting chocolate and how to drizzle it without a mess may be helpful to others. Use a cup to hold your plastic bag in place and scrape the chocolate easily into it. If you do not have a pastry bag a simple resealable plastic bag will do. Just cut a tiny piece of the end off and use it to squeeze the chocolate onto the cookies. Much easier than the original splatter.
