These are easy to make chewy gingerbread cookies. They taste just like Christmas with their touch of molasses and a perfect blend of spices. The batter is soft, but don't be dismayed. Just gently roll the balls and dip into the white sugar. Pop them in the oven and in minutes you have the perfect treat for the holidays.

Ingredients For chewy gingerbread cookies

1 1/4 call-purpose flour

2 tspground ginger

1/2 tspbaking soda

1 tspground cinnamon

1/4 tspground cloves

1/4 tspground nutmeg

1/8 tspallspice

1/3 cbutter, softened
-
1/2 csugar
-
1egg
-
3 Tbspmolasses
-
3 Tbspwhite sugar (for rolling cookies)

red and green sugar (you can sprinkle some christmas color sugar once you remove them from the oven, the colors stay brighter this way :)
How To Make chewy gingerbread cookies

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2In a medium mixing bowl, blend flour, baking soda and spices together; set aside.

3In another bowl, cream together butter and 1/2 cup of sugar until fluffy.

4Beat in egg until well mixed.

5Then add the molasses and mix to combine.

6Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture.

7Using rounded teaspoonfuls (or not quite full tablespoons), form dough into balls and roll them in the extra 2 tablespoons of sugar.

8Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Lightly flatten and bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

9Once cookies are out of the oven, sprinkle with red and green sugar. Allow to cool on cookie sheet for about 5 minutes.

10Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
