Ingredients For apple strips

  • 2 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 3/4 c
    butter
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon zest
  • 5-6 Tbsp
    sour cream or greek yogurt or more
  • 4 c
    apples, peeled and cut in 1/4" cubes
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1
    egg, lightly beaten

How To Make apple strips

    Preheat oven to 350. Crust: Sift together 2 1/2 cups flour, salt, 1/4 cup sugar. Cut in butter and lemon zest. Mix in sour cream until dough is workable. Divide in half. Roll out half of dough between 2 pieces of waxed paper to 10 x15. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake 10-12 minutes.

    Filling: Mix apples, 1 T flour, 1/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Spread on baked crust.

    Increase oven temperature to 400 degrees. Roll out other half of dough to 10 x 15. Place over filling. Brush with egg and sprinkle with additional sugar. Bake at 400 for 25-30 minutes.
