I make these and take them to work and they are gone in about a micro second. This is one of those recipes you splash some flour on your face and they think you worked so hard when you didn't.

Ingredients For black bottom banana bars

  • 1/2 c
    butter softened
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c
    bananas
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa powder

How To Make black bottom banana bars

    In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla then beat until smooth and fluffy. Add the bananas and beat until they are mashed. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt then add to creamed mixture. Divide batter in half then add cocoa to half of the batter. Spread cocoa part into a greased 9 x 13 in. pan. Spoon remaining batter on top and at this point you can put nuts or chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. After it has cooled you can cut into bars.
