I remember a favorite aunt made something like this when I was 4 years old, I never got her recipe and she's gone now but this one comes close.

Ingredients For crystallized nuts

1 1/4 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1/4 ccream or milk

1 Tbspbutter or margarine

1/2 tspcinnamon

1/8 tspsalt

1 tspvanilla

2 cwhole almonds, walnuts, or pecans
How To Make crystallized nuts

1Combine sugar, cream, butter, cinnamon, and salt in 2-quart saucepan; mix well. Bring to boil over medium heat.

2Place thermometer in mixture. Continue cooking to 244 degrees (firm ball stage) stirring constantly Remove from heat.

3Add vanilla and nuts. Continue stirring until candy grains on nuts.

4Spread on cookie sheet to cool.
