Ingredients For tynwald cake

  • 2 stick
    butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 6 lg
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    rice flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • fl
    1 to 2 drops of red food coloring make it a light pink color
  • shredded cocnut
  • qt
    choclate icing
  • chopped pistachio nuts
  • cream filling
  • CREAM FILLING
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    cherries(dried) soaked in hot water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • CHOCOLATE ICING
  • 1 Tbsp
    crisco
  • 4 Tbsp
    grated chocolate
  • 1 c
    confectioner's sugar
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp
    hot water
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make tynwald cake

    Line 3 round 8" cake pand with greased parchment paper.

    Cream butter and sugar. Add egg 1 at a time with a little four with each egg. Mix in the remaining flour, rice flour, gignger nand baking powder. Stir lightly.

    Add vanilla and ifg necessary a little milk. Use food coloring and make it a delecate pink.

    Spread mixture evenly over each cake tin. Sprinkle tops with cocnut and bake at 350*F for 30 minutes.

    When cool spread with chocoalate icing. Sprinle top with chopped pistachios. Make cream filling and ice the top of the cake.

    CHOCOLATE ICING: Melt lard and chocolate. Mix in confectioner's sugar. Add hot water. Add vanilla.

    Cream Filling: Cream sugar and butter. Add cherries and vanilla and mix
