Ingredients For strawberry-topped cake

  • 1 box
    yellow or white cake mix
  • 1 c
    mascarone cheese
  • 1/2 c
    vanilla yogurt
  • 3 Tbsp
    honey, divided
  • 3 Tbsp
    lemon zest, divided
  • 1 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 1/3 c
    strawberry jam
  • 1-1/2 c
    sliced strawberries

How To Make strawberry-topped cake

    Bake cake as directed, using 2 9-in cake pans.

    Meanwhile, combine cheese, yogurt, 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon lemon zest, and lemon juice.

    When cake is cool, spread jam on bottom half of cake and then spread half of prepared cheese mixture over jam.

    Top with second half of cake and spread remaining cheese mixture over top. Arrange sliced strawberries in a concentric circle starting from the outer edge and working towards the center to create a flower-like effect.

    Sprinkle with remaining lemon zest. When ready to serve, drizzle top with remaining honey.
