This is probably one of my family's OLDEST recipes. Not sure where it came from, but the recipe card is old, withered, and covered in stains, so you know it's a good one! It's super yummy and can be eaten plain, or spiced up with other ingredients.

1 cbutter or crisco

1 tspbaking soda

How To Make southern tea cakes

1Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix all ingredients together.

2Flour a surface, and roll out dough. It should be thicker than an average cookie. Cut out cookies (using a cup or a circular cookie cutter).

3Bake for approximately 10 minutes. Periodically check on the cookies as they bake, and get them out before they brown.
