This has been a perennial favorite in my family since before I was born (extended family as well as immediate). These are a cake like brownie but oh so good!

Ingredients For mom's scrummy brownies
- BROWNIES

1/4 lbbutter, softened

1 csugar
-
4eggs
-
1 tspvanilla extract

16 ozchocolate syrup
-
1 1/8 cflour, sifted

1/2 tspbaking powder
-
1/2 cfavorite nutmeat, optional
- GLAZE
-
6 Tbspbutter
-
6 Tbspmilk
-
1 1/2 csugar
-
1/2 csemi-sweet chocolate chips
How To Make mom's scrummy brownies

1Beat together butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.

2Add chocolate syrup, flour, nutmeats (optional) and baking powder; beat until thoroughly blended.

3Pour into a 9" x 13" cake pan and bake 35-40 minutes at 350° F.

4For the glaze: Place butter, milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to boil on medium heat for 3 1/2 to 4 minutes or until it reaches 236° F on a candy thermometer.

5Remove from heat and add chocolate chips.

6Spread onto brownies while they are still warm.
