moms oatmeal cake my way

The original recipe called for the topping to be broiled, but I wanted to do some thing a little different, and I really like the way it turned out so wanted to share with you. I don't double the topping recipe.

1 cquick oatmeal

1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1 clovewhite sugar

1 1/3 cflour

1/2 tspsalt

1 tspsoda

1 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspnutmeg

1/2 tspcloves
- TOPPING
-
1 cnuts
-
1/2 cbrown sugar

1/2 cwhite sugar

6 Tbspbutter--melted

1 ccoconut
-
1/4 ccream ( i use canned milk)

1 tspvanilla extract
How To Make moms oatmeal cake my way

1Turn oven on 350* Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan Put all ingredients in mixer bowl and mix together.

2These were not put in the recipe but must be added. Add 1/2 cup butter or margarine, 2 eggs and 1 1/2 cup boiling water---this will be very thin batter.

3Mix up the topping and drop into the batter with a tablespoon. leaving a space in between. when you have the topping all in the batter, put in oven and bake for 60 min. This is a great cake and each serving will have a bit of the topping in each one. It doesn't need to be frosted but you could serve with cool whip or Ice Cream.
