This was my Mom's go to dessert. Everyone in my family loved chocolate (except me when I was a little girl). I do like this cake now a days. It is very moist.

Ingredients For chocolate cocoa cola cake

  • **CAKE**
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c
    vegatable shortening (*crisco*)
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1 c
    *coke*
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    minature marshmallows
  • **ICING**
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 6 Tbsp
    *coke*
  • 1 box
    10x powdered sugar
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts (pecans are my choice)
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • ***PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES***

How To Make chocolate cocoa cola cake

    In a large bowl, sift together the flour and sugar.

    Mix together the margarine, crisco, cocoa, & coke. Boil for 1 minute in a saucepan. Pour this mixture over the flour sugar mixture. Add the buttermilk, baking soda and eggs. Mix well. Fold in the marshmallows. Bake in a 9x13 greased pan at 350* for 45-50 minutes.

    Make the icing by placing the margarine, cocoa and coke in a saucepan and boiling for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add the powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts mixing well. Evenly pour over warm cake.
