This is a Michigan family favorite. The recipe originated in a small Ann Arbor cookbook and has been adjusted to my family's liking.

1 3/4 cflour

2 csugar

2eggs
-
3/4 ccocoa

2 tspbaking soda

1 tspsalt

1 cblack coffee

1 cbuttermilk*

1/2 cvegetable oil

2 tspvanilla extract
- FROSTING:

1 ptheavy whipping cream
-
1 sm pkginstant vanilla pudding mix
How To Make black magic cake

1FOR CAKE: Preheat oven to 350 ˚F. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add eggs, coffee, milk, oil & vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes. Grease and flour a 9x13 baking dish, pour mixture into dish. Bake for 30-45 minutes.

2FOR FROSTING: 1 pint heavy cream 1 small package instant pudding mix Whip cream and pudding mix until smooth. Spread on cooled cake.

3*To make buttermilk: Mix 1 tablespoon white vinegar with 1 cup milk. Let stand for 1 minute.
