My Aunt Nona gave me this recipe at a "cookbook shower" before my wedding. It is very moist. I like to double the cinnamon. I will be doubling the cocoa powder next time to see if it makes a richer chocolate taste.

1 cwater

2eggs, slightly beaten

1 stickbutter

1/3 cmilk

1 tspvanilla extract

1-2 cpowdered sugar

How To Make aunt nona's old-fashioned chocolate cake

1Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a Bundt pan.

2In a small saucepan, bring butter, shortening, cocoa, and water just to a boil.

3Mix flour, sugar, soda and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.

4Pour hot liquids over the dry ingredients and mix well.

5Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla and mix well.

6Bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

7Frosting: Melt butter in a medium saucepan.

8Add cocoa and milk and bring to a boil.

9Remove from heat and pour into a clean mixing bowl.

10Add powdered sugar to desired thickness.

11Sprinkle cake with chopped nuts while frosting is warm.
