My church friend Pat brought these to a Holiday Cookie Exchange. Definitely a keeper and it's easy too!

Ingredients For toffee bars

  • 1 c
    unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1 Tbsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 6
    hershey milk chocolate bars
  • 1/2-1 c
    finely chopped walnuts(or pecans), as much as you like

How To Make toffee bars

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream together the butter and sugar. Stir in the egg and vanilla. Spread this dough into a large jelly roll pan. Bake for about 15 minutes until the top is slightly brown.

    Remove from the oven and immediately arrange the Hershey bars on top. As the chocolate melts, spread it to cover the bottom layer completely. Sprinkle with nut to cover, press these gently into the chocolate with a spatula.

    Let cool completely before slicing into bars.
