Ingredients For sugar cookies

  • 1 c
    oleo
  • 1 c
    salad oil
  • 1 c
    white sugar
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 4 c
    all purpose flour

How To Make sugar cookies

  • 1
    Cream shortening and sugar well. Add eggs and mix well. Sift dry ingredients and add. Chill dough until stiff. You can either roll into balls and dip into sugar and flatten with glass. (Deb used a scoop and drop onto a cookie sheet and sprinkle with sugar.) Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

    (Note from my mom) I use this recipe in my electric cookie press. This makes good cookies for Christmas. I just sprinkle with the colored sugars or whatever. Even mixed cinnamon and sugar and make snickerdoodle type cookies out of thie recipe. It is very versatile and tasty.
