You know those simple, bland looking cookies that you don’t think much of, but when you start eating them you can’t stop? These are those kinds of cookies! They are sweet, buttery and naturally gluten-free, since they are made with cornstarch. If the classic version is a bit bland for you, here are some suggestions: 1/2 teaspoon lime, lemon or orange zest for a citrus flavor bomb 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon gives you an almost snickerdoodle flavor 2 tablespoons shredded coconut for a tropical twist 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract (you might need more cornstarch to reach the dough consistency)

Ingredients For starchies

  • 1/2 c
    sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 2 c
    cornstarch

How To Make starchies

    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • 2
    Combine the sweetened condensed milk with the butter. Beat until smooth.

    Stir in the cornstarch two tablespoons at a time. Mix until a smooth dough is formed.

    Divide by the rounded teaspoon, lightly rolling in hand to form a smooth 2-inch ball. Place on a parchment paper- lined baking sheet.

    Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Cookies should NOT BROWN.

    Let them cool briefly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
