This is what I call from "Old Red", sort of my ol' reliable. I'm talking about one of my first cookbooks, Betty Crocker. This recipe has never failed me. Tastes just like what my mom made when we were growing up. Probably is the same recipe. :)

Ingredients For spritz

1 cmargarine or butter, softened

1/2 csugar
-
2 1/4 call purpose flour
-
1 tspvanilla or almond extract

1/2 tspsalt

1egg
How To Make spritz

1Heat oven to 400ºF.

2Mix butter & sugar. Stir in remaining ingredients. Don't overmix.

3PLace dough in cookie press; form desired shaped on ungreased cookie sheet. If desired sprinkle with colored sugars.

4Bake until set but not browned; about 6-9 minutes. Immediately remove to cooling rack.

5I'VE NEVER TRIED THIS PART: CHOCOLATE: Stir 2 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate (cooled) into margarine mixture.
