These were a yearly Christmas gift from my sister. She had this recipe down pat and they were scrumptious! I always double the recipe (not the salt and use your judgement on the chocolate chips ;) Bake for 10 - 12 minutes.

3/4 to 1 cbutter (do not substitute)

1 lgegg

3/4 cwhite sugar

1/2 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1 tspvanilla extract

1 call purpose flour

1/2 tspbaking soda

1 tspsalt

1 pkgsemi-sweet chocolate chips (small pkg)
How To Make shelley's chocolate chip cookies

1Pre-heat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, cream butter, egg, sugars and vanilla with a spoon until smooth.

2In a separate bowl, sift flour, soda and salt together then gradually stir dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.

3Add chocolate chips. Blend all ingredients together with a spoon.

4Drop a spoonful of mix onto ungreased non-stick cookie sheet. Bake at 350F for 10-12 mins. Makes 20-24 cookies, more if you drop smaller batches.
